Hex 2048 is 2048 on a hexagonal board. The 19 cells form a hexagon, and tiles slide in six directions: straight up and down, and diagonally up-left, up-right, down-left and down-right. Merging works as usual, and the goal is still the 2048 tile.
Controls
- W and S (or the up and down arrow keys) slide straight up and down.
- Q and E slide up-left and up-right.
- A and D slide down-left and down-right.
- On a touchscreen, swipe in any of the six directions.
How hexagonal 2048 changes the strategy
With six directions, every tile has up to six neighbours, so there are more ways to merge and more ways for a stray tile to slip into the wrong gap. The corner idea from how to win 2048 still works, but a hexagon has six corners: pick one and use the three directions that push toward it.
How far can it go?

Why are there no left and right moves?
On this hexagon the rows run in six directions, and pure left or right would not line up with any row. The four diagonals take their place.
Is Hex 2048 easier than the square version?
It has three more cells, which helps, but more directions also make the board harder to keep in order.
